1. Enhanced brake pads

Do all brake pads sold as enhanced brake pads have suitable character for them?
First, we need to check out the performance of the genuine pads.
We have examined brake pads of numberless models and have compared the results with the data on the enhanced pads on sale.

Consequently, if they hope to win the name of genhanced brake padh, all of their enhanced products must completely beat the character of the countless genuine pads.

The SS-27 is made of NAO (Non-Asbestos Organic).
But why have we adapted this material?
Actually, heat-resistable materials like metals, ceramics and carbon are suitable for enhanced pads much superior to the genuine ones.

They can offer you superb performance, even though they are too pricey and are unsuitable for using under lower temperatures.
And furthermore, they tend to have real bummers including rotor attack, irritating brake sounds and brake dust that messes up our Earth.

NAO emits brake dust hardly ever and prevents rotor attack without making odd brake sounds.

2. Making the SS-27

STEP 1. Examining the genuine pads

As mentioned above, Maruha launched the SS-27 development by eyeballing the brake pads of various car models.

We tested their performance by the same square and under the same pressure condition, following JIS Standards, which are a set of domestic standards for the industrial standardization.
It shows the precise results in the even conditions.

However, a test using dynamometers has been generally done in Japan.
The method suits to test plural pads in the same shape, but it is totally meaningless to examine pads in different shapes and in unequal sizes.

Unequal shapes and square sizes don't lead to accurate reports, even if they are made with the same material.
That is the reason why we adopted the examination under the same conditions.

COFFEE BREAK: the relationship between temperatures and the coefficient of friction

The coefficient of friction(ƒĘ) concluding pads character means that the larger the coefficient, the more the friction. In other words, as they have bigger coefficients, the brake pads are more likely to work effectively easily.

Following temperature changes, the coefficients also keep on converting.
And now, here is a quiz for you: Imagine.
The pad 1, that's proper temperature for use is 86-572 degree F (30-300 degree C) and the pad 2, suitable for using from 32-752 degree F (0-400 degree C) are placed in a laboratory.
Which product will show a larger figure when both of them are used at 572 degree F (300 degree C)?

The right answer is neither 1 nor 2.

Some brake pads have an increasing coefficient of friction in some temperatures, but the coefficient has been dropping in higher ones, and vice versa.
Manufacturers have set the former gproper temperatureh as grecommended temperature for useh and it is not an absolute standard.
The SS-27 covers the ranges from 32-842 degree F (0-450 degree C).

We measure the coefficients under every temperature to use the data for the product explanation.
And it helps our users to understand the effects of our brake pads.
Maruha uncovers the data on the effect differences among the genuine pads so that you can choose out of the brake pads the ones you really need.

STEP 2. Comparison test 1-proving the correlation between the temperatures and the coefficients of friction in the front section

The investigated subjects are the NA6CE brake pad, the NA8C brake pad, the NB8C (RS) brake pad and the SS-27.

The SS-27 outperforms the others with the most stability.
It maintains high-level coefficients from lower to higher temperatures, that is it covers a wide range and never deteriorates its quality around 662 degree F (350 degree C).
It proves the fact that our product can withstand severe circuit drives.

The second best is the NA8C.
But unfortunately, there are some unrecommended things.
The unstable coefficients of friction can be seen in lower temperatures, and worse, if the temperatures become higher, the pad quality gets more inferior.
So as a result, it is not suitable for circuit drives.

The NB8C brake pad contains the specific conditions except its lower total performance.
This model is also unfit for circuits.
In our opinion, they need to change its pad area to improve the effects of the 270mm rotor and of the big caliper.

The NA6C brake pad should be improved mostly among the subjects.
It continues showing lower coefficients and almost at 572 degree F (300 degree C), it begins to increase the figures rapidly, due to metallic fiber compounded in the product.
The NA6C has big-busted features like its lower total performance, the unstable effects and the smallest rotor radius.

STEP 3. Comparison test 2 - proving the correlation between the temperatures and the coefficients of friction in the rear sections

The investigated subjects are the NA8C brake pad, the NB8C (after M/C) brake pad and the SS-27.

The same as the test 1 result, the SS-27 has high-quality and stable performance.

Conversely, it can be found that the genuines have generally unstable and lower coefficients.
The NB8C (after M/C) pad is especially arranged with worse-balance in the front and rear.
In our tests, the pad in the rear shows higher friction coefficient.
However, the NA8C pad has stability at all ranges and the well-balanced arrangement in the front and rear sections.

STEP 4. Comparison test 3-proving the correlation between the temperatures and the brake pad friction

What is the most important to you in choosing a brake pad? Generally, to reduce your expense and get longer pad life.
If you hope to enjoy street drives, isnft it better to use longer-life pads?

The graph shows the friction coefficient values according to the temperatures.
It tells you that the friction increases in the vertical axis.
And it shows that the SS-27 in street drives has better anti-friction characteristics than the genuine ones.
